Gone are the days when marketing was all about leads and links. It’s 2017, and you need outstanding marketing goals to withstand all the forces around you. Customer is the King. If you are stuck, or your company growth is stagnant, or your customers are simply bored, you need a new marketing goals ASAP. But what are “Marketing Goals”?
Marketing goals are nothing but statements of who your customers are, how will you reach them, and what is the primary reason for your companies to do marketing.
Here is a step-by-step process for designing Marketing Goals for your company:
Step 1: Analyze your Company’s current credibility and situation:
Where do you stand in the market TODAY? Where were you standing yesterday? Who is your target audience? Why have they loved your company’s services/products? Why haven’t they liked some services/products? What will they love about your company in the coming month? Yes. Ask all these questions about your company, to set up an apt marketing plan.
Step 2: Envision your “Business Goals”
What is your business goal? What outcome do you want, out of your business? For example, Disney’s business goal is to make people happy. Recollect your motive behind starting the business in the first place.

Step 4: Distinguish your goals
Now that you have envisioned your business goals, it is time to think of ways to complete those goals successfully. For example, if your business goal is to grow your company’s popularity, your marketing goals will include say, 3 things:
Get maximum traffic on your website, get leads from the traffic, convert leads into customers. List down these goals into different categories. Now under these 3, you will list down what strategies you can use.
Step 5: Prioritize your goals
Now prioritize these distinguished goals based on urgency and importance. It’s simple. Just list them down and rank them based on how urgent accomplishing that goal is.
Step 6: Set up a completion date for each goal
Deadlines are best way to ensure successful goal accomplishment. Now that you have ranked your goals, give each goal a completion date to which you can commit.
By now, you have a proper structure in front of you, or what, why and when you are going to do. Research well on latest marketing strategies to fill in this structure.
Step 7: Be aware of potential obstacles- Prevent them.
Achieving your goals is going to be difficult, with lot of hurdles. But if you already sit and think it through, you might actually be able to prevent them. Make a full proof marketing plan.
Step 8: Record your goals
Record the entire process stated above, on your laptop or diary. This step is very important. This will ensure a smooth process of designing your goals.
Step 9: Write a single Brand-Positioning statement for your company
Your Brand value determines everything about your company in the market. After your goals have been set, by the above process, write a single brand-positioning statement to determine what your company stands for. This will help a lot.
Step 10: Go through a check list before finalizing your goals
Make your own checklist, or refer to the one I am providing, to finalize your goals.
- Can the company manage to really do these things?
- Have we done similar things in the past? Are these goals repetitive?
- Are the numbers, money and time frame practical enough?
- Are other companies doing something similar already? Have they done this in the past?
- Am I overestimating/underestimating my team’s and company’s potential?
